Trekking in the Dolomites

Trekking in the Dolomites

Esplora le Dolomiti, Patrimonio dell’Unesco!

From the Altopiano di Pradel, you can venture into the majestic Brenta Dolomites! Exciting adventures await you towards the highest peaks of the Dolomites, with trails suitable for all levels of experience, from easy walks to spectacular via ferratas.

Along the way, take a break at one of the refuges to savor the local traditional dishes while admiring the splendid landscape that only this environment can offer.

From Croz dell’Altissimo Refuge to Selvata Refuge, and on to Tosa Tommaso Pedrotti Refuge. From here, many other routes connect different valleys and refuges, offering excursions lasting one or more days.

Some Must-See Hikes

Begin your adventure by taking the “La Panoramica” cable car from Molveno to Pradel (1320 meters). Once you arrive at the upper station, head left towards the northwest, following trail 340. This trail will lead you through a flat stretch in the woods, skirting the impressive walls of Croz Altissimo.

The trail, carved into the rock above the Valle delle Seghe, is well-protected by a metal cable railing, ensuring a smooth and safe path. After passing through a tunnel, a gentle ascent begins, taking you up to an altitude of 1430 meters. From here, continuing through the woods, you will reach the Croz dell’Altissimo Refuge in just a few minutes (about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Pradel), situated beneath the spectacular walls of the namesake peak.

For the return to Molveno, take the forest road immediately below the Croz dell’Altissimo Refuge (forest road no. 319). This road will quickly lead you down the valley, crossing a charming little bridge over the Rio Massò and immersing you in the forest until you reach the “Baita Ciclamino” area. From here, keep left and follow the road to Via Dolomiti, about 200 meters from the departure station of the “La Panoramica” cable car.

If you take the road to the right instead, you will reach the sports field and then the lake area, perfect for concluding your hike with a breathtaking view.

Begin your hike by taking the “La Panoramica” cable car from Molveno to Pradel (1360 meters). Once you reach the upper station, turn right towards the chairlift. After passing the lift, you can freely hike up the ski slope until you reach Malga Tovre. Here, take a break to savor local products and visit the educational farm.

Beyond the malga, on the right, take a mule track that follows the right edge of the slope with a steep climb. A final effort will bring you to the chairlift arrival point and the nearby La Montanara Refuge, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the central chain of the Brenta Dolomites and Lake Molveno (about 40 minutes from Pradel).

To return, you can simply retrace the same route.

Alternatively, from Pradel (or directly from La Montanara Refuge), you can return to Molveno on foot by taking the forest road that descends towards Andalo. Pass by Baita Pineta until you reach the parking area in Valbiole. From here, instead of continuing straight towards Andalo, turn right towards “Casina Bruniol” and follow the educational trail “Pian del Piof” until you reach the center of Molveno (about 1 hour and 30 minutes).

We recommend enriching your hike with a visit to the “Forest Park” in Pradel, an adventure park with courses of varying difficulty for both adults and children.

This is one of the mountain hikes in Trentino that will leave you with an unforgettable memory even after your holiday in Paganella. Prepare for a medium/high intensity trail from a physical standpoint, but extraordinarily rewarding for the spectacular views!

Begin your hike by taking the “La Panoramica” cable car from Molveno to Pradel (1360 meters). From the Altopiano di Pradel (1367 meters), take trail 340, which gently ascends under the majestic walls of Croz dell’Altissimo and reaches the Croz dell’Altissimo Refuge at 1430 meters. Here you will find yourself suspended between Lake Molveno, the vertical wall of Croz dell’Altissimo, and Campanil Bas.

From Croz dell’Altissimo Refuge, cross the stream and climb left until you exit the forest near Selvata Refuge (1630 meters). Pay special attention to a couple of exposed points along this section.

Continue on trail 319, zigzagging under Cima delle Fontane Fredde. Cross the Acqua della Dosola stream and pass through a grassy area where you will find the ruins of the ancient Baito dei Massodi (1994 meters). Continuing further, you will reach Tosa Refuge and finally Pedrotti Refuge.

If you still have energy and want to extend your adventure, climb up to Bocca di Brenta to admire the Presanella in all its magnificence. For the return, retrace the same path to Selvata Refuge. From here, descend along a rather steep forest trail until you intersect the forest road of Valle delle Seghe, and then descend to Molveno.

After reaching the Altopiano di Pradel with the “La Panoramica” cable car from Molveno, an exciting adventure among the Brenta Dolomites awaits you. From Pradel, take trail 340, which follows a gentle slope, offering unforgettable glimpses of the majestic Brenta Dolomites and Campanil Bas, one of the most iconic peaks in the group.

As you walk, the trail skirts the imposing walls of Croz dell’Altissimo, giving you breathtaking views of Valle delle Seghe. After about an hour and a half of pleasant hiking, you’ll reach the Croz dell’Altissimo Refuge (1430 meters), where you can take a break to recharge and savor delicious local specialties, all while surrounded by spectacular panoramas.

From the refuge, trail 340 becomes steeper as you continue towards Selvata Refuge (1630 meters), which you will reach in about 40 minutes. Pay special attention to a couple of exposed points, but enjoy the climb that will bring you to Selvata Refuge, situated in an extraordinary position with stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

From here, proceed on trail 332, which descends towards Molveno. Along the descent, you will pass through enchanting landscapes, first reaching Malga Andalo, which has been fully restored and is perfect for a short break. Admire the view of the surrounding valley and immerse yourself in the tranquility of this magical place. Continuing further down, the trail will finally lead you to Molveno, concluding an unforgettable day of trekking among the wonders of the Brenta Dolomites.
